Saving the Felt

The most magical part of felting is that felt is so amazingly forgiving.  A couple of years ago, I did a piece with poppies, bleeding hearts and thistles.  I have loved the work I did on the color gradients of the flowers, especially in the poppies.  But I have always been disappointed in the background.  Somehow the background managed to camouflage the flowers instead of showcase them.  They got completely lost.  It has been hanging on my dinning room wall this way for a very long time, disappointing me every time I looked at it .... until today. 

Today I grabbed these:

I took a very, very deep breath.

And then I went to town.  

Then I grabbed these:

And gave it a haircut.

Now I am pleased!  And I wonder why I waited years to get up my nerve to try this!
